This week we introduced a new Buddy System to Hemdean House School. Each of our juniors has been assigned a younger child to ‘look out for’ in school. The purpose of the Buddy System is to enable our younger pupils to feel supported and cared for at playtimes, on special learning days and in important aspects of their learning e.g. peer reading.
We trust the initiative will also benefit our older juniors by giving them some additional responsibility.
Year 6 pupils will be buddies to Year 3.
Year 5 pupils will be buddies with Reception and Year 1.
Year 4 pupils will be buddies with Year 2.
In this afternoon assembly, the children were really excited to find out who their buddies were.
We look forward to seeing how the Buddy System grows and develops over the coming school year.
